Training on Improving Language Quality on Tourist Destination Information Signs in PALI Regency

This community service program, conducted by the language lecturer community service team of Palembang Polytechnic of Tourism, aimed to provide information, raise awareness, and assist tourism destination managers and local visitors, particularly at Sungai Biru, Paye Ako 1000, and Bumi Ayu Temple in PALI Regency, in improving their understanding of the importance of information signage in both Indonesian and English to support the quality of visitor information services. The community service activity consisted of five stages: (1) awareness-raising, (2) discussion, (3) training, (4) mentoring, and (5) evaluation. The activity was conducted on July 14, 2026, in Betung Village, ABAB District, PALI Regency, involving 35 participants. The results showed that the participants received materials on Language Development in PALI Regency Tourist Destinations, Proper Language for Great Tourism, and Linguistic Mentoring for Tourist Destination Information Signage to Improve Tourism Service Quality in PALI Regency and participated in group assignments to develop and improve simple information signage. Based on the evaluation results, the participants’ mean score increased from 50.0 in the pre-test to 90.0 in the post-test, with an N-Gain score of 0.80. These results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of the appropriate and communicative use of language in tourist information signage.
