Authorship and Contributorship Policy

JOURNAL POLICY   /   RESEARCH INTEGRITY

Authorship & Contributorship

Transparent recognition of intellectual contributions, shared scholarly accountability, and responsible management of authorship.

APLIKATIF  —  Journal of Research Trends in Social Sciences and Humanities

POLICY OVERVIEW

APLIKATIF: Journal of Research Trends in Social Sciences and Humanities is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects intellectual contributions and that all individuals involved in scholarly work receive appropriate recognition.

This policy establishes the criteria for authorship, the disclosure of individual contributions, the responsibilities of corresponding authors, and procedures for addressing authorship changes and disputes. It applies to all manuscript types accepted by the journal, including original research and review articles.

AUTHORSHIP

Four cumulative eligibility criteria

CONTRIBUTIONS

ACCOUNTABILITY

All authors share responsibility

01   /   ELIGIBILITY AND RECOGNITION

Authorship Criteria

APLIKATIF adopts authorship criteria informed by the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all four criteria:

01

Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data or scholarly evidence.

02

Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

03

Review and approve the final version of the manuscript intended for publication.

04

Accept accountability for the work and cooperate in addressing questions concerning its accuracy, integrity, or scholarly validity.

All individuals who meet these criteria must be appropriately recognized as authors. Individuals who make substantial intellectual contributions should be given a reasonable opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation, critical revision, and final approval.

Authorship must not be granted solely on the basis of academic position, institutional authority, general supervision, funding acquisition, or personal relationships.

APLIKATIF does not permit honorary, guest, gift, or ghost authorship. Individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria should receive appropriate acknowledgment for their contributions.

02   /   CONTRIBUTION TRANSPARENCY

Author Contributions

To promote transparency and accountability, manuscripts with multiple authors must include an Author Contributions Statement describing each author's actual contribution.

APLIKATIF recommends the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), which identifies 14 standardized roles:

Conceptualization

Methodology

Software

Validation

Formal analysis

Investigation

Resources

Data curation

Writing – original draft

Writing – review & editing

Visualization

Supervision

Project administration

Funding acquisition

Authors should select only the roles that accurately describe their contributions. An author may perform multiple roles, and the same role may be shared by several authors.

IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

CRediT roles are used to describe contributions and do not independently establish eligibility for authorship. All listed authors must satisfy the journal's authorship criteria.

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating the contribution statement and ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and agreed to their assigned roles.

For submissions undergoing double-anonymous peer review, identifying contribution information must be provided separately from the anonymized manuscript. The final approved contribution statement will be included in the published article.

03   /   RESPONSIBILITY AND AGREEMENT

Author Order and Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The order of authors must be determined collectively by the authors before submission and should reflect their agreed recognition of contributions, taking account of relevant disciplinary conventions.

The journal does not determine authorship order on behalf of contributors. Any designation of equal contribution must be supported by agreement among the authors and communicated to the editorial office.

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the journal and is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all eligible contributors are included as authors and that no ineligible individuals are listed.
  • Confirming that all authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission.
  • Providing accurate author names, institutional affiliations, contact details, and contribution statements.
  • Coordinating required declarations concerning conflicts of interest, funding, research ethics, and AI-assisted work.
  • Communicating editorial decisions and revision requirements to all co-authors.
  • Ensuring that all authors approve the final version intended for publication.
  • Responding to editorial inquiries during and after publication.

All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work. The designation of a corresponding author does not transfer the scholarly accountability of other authors to that individual.

04   /   DOCUMENTED REQUESTS

Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted to the editorial office with a clear explanation.

The request must include written agreement from all affected authors, including any individual proposed for addition or removal, and an updated Author Contributions Statement where applicable.

The Editorial Team will assess whether the requested change is appropriately documented and consistent with the journal's authorship criteria.

Where the authors cannot reach an agreement, manuscript processing or publication may be suspended until the matter is resolved.

Changes to authorship after publication will be considered only when appropriately justified and documented. Approved changes will be managed through the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy, with corresponding updates to publication metadata where necessary.

05   /   APPROPRIATE RECOGNITION

Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributions

Individuals who contribute to a manuscript but do not satisfy all authorship criteria should be recognized in an Acknowledgments section, where appropriate.

Such contributions may include technical assistance, language editing, proofreading, administrative support, data collection assistance, or general research supervision when these activities do not independently meet the requirements for authorship.

The nature of each acknowledged contribution should be identified clearly. The corresponding author must obtain permission from individuals named in the acknowledgments.

Funding sources and financial support must be disclosed separately, as required by the journal's publication policies.

06   /   HUMAN ACCOUNTABILITY

Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence systems, including generative AI tools and large language models, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

These technologies cannot assume responsibility for scholarly content, approve a manuscript, or fulfill the ethical obligations associated with authorship.

Any substantive use of AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation, data analysis, interpretation, or other research activities must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy.

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and appropriate attribution of all submitted and published content.

07   /   DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Authorship Disputes and Research Integrity

APLIKATIF takes concerns about inappropriate authorship, omitted contributors, inaccurate contribution statements, and unauthorized authorship changes seriously.

When an authorship concern is raised, the Editorial Team may request written explanations, contribution records, or other relevant documentation from the individuals involved.

The journal will seek to address authorship concerns fairly and confidentially while avoiding conflicts of interest.

The responsibility for resolving substantive disputes over contributions and authorship normally rests with the authors and their institutions. The journal may refer unresolved disputes to the relevant institution rather than independently determining competing claims of scholarly contribution.

Where credible evidence suggests deliberate misrepresentation, coercion, undisclosed contributors, or other research-integrity violations, the matter may be handled under the journal's Research Misconduct Policy.

Editorial actions will be proportionate to the available evidence and may include requests for clarification, manuscript revision, suspension of editorial processing, rejection, or post-publication correction where warranted.

08   /   APPLICABILITY AND RELATED POLICIES

Policy Implementation and Related Policies

Authors are expected to review and comply with this policy before submitting their manuscripts.

The Editorial Team may request authorship declarations, individual contribution statements, or supporting documentation when necessary to verify compliance.

This policy should be read alongside the journal's:
